Knowledge Management in the Public Sector

Knowledge Management in the Public Sector and more specifically at Local or Provincial Government level, should be aimed at very different knowledge drivers from those of the Corporate and Private Sectors.

On the one side we have the key sources of strategy, policy and direction, typically National Government Strategies, Growth and Development Strategies, Integrated Development Plans, Spatial Development Frameworks, Uni-City Strategies and Service Delivery Scorecards etc.

On the other side we have individual citizens, whole communities, business, funding and doner agencies, utilities and suppliers and a variety of other affected or interested stakeholders.

In the middle we have the officials who need to “make it happen”.
KMI Inkaba Management Consultants (Pty) Ltd, which is a subsidiary of KMI, is a Level 2 Contributor to BBBEE and has extensive experience in developing knowledge management strategies and solutions for Provincial and Local Government and clients include:

  • Premiers Office of KZN
  • City of Tshwane
  • City of Jo’Burg
  • Sedibeng District Municipality

KMI Inkaba has also provided specialist Knowledge Management consulting services to other Public Sector and State Owned Enterprises such as:

  • Eskom
